A global average price is calculated for each individual model variant, with auction results favoured for the rarest collectible models and classified ads favoured for mass market models. Factory production and survival numbers are estimated, a triangulation of the most reliable public sources. Market cap is calculated using the survival estimate. Production totals at the model variant level come from confirmed factory figures, which are most commonly available for limited editions and as model/generation totals. Confirmed relational data, for example production splits, are taken into account.

The data is layered systematically: variant, generation, model, manufacturer. The market cap at each layer is the sum of the nested layer below.
